Boston area

My family is vacationing in Boston this summer. What is the best area of Boston to stay in? There are several listed i.e. Boston Metropolitan Area, Boston East Side, etc....

If possible, try to stay in the city. As you say, there are a few areas: Back Bay/Copley, the South End, the Waterfront (and the new Waterfront in South Boston), and downtown. These are all about 10 minutes from each other by T.

I replied to your post, but mistakenly hit the ';Post a New Topic'; button. So, it appears separately, under ';Areas';.

Hi,

I%26#39;m guessing you%26#39;re using a site like hotwire and priceline that divide the city and its%26#39; surroundings in a sometimes myserious way. In all my years I%26#39;ve never heard of Boston%26#39;s ';East Side.'; I%26#39;ve heard of East Boston of course but...

Anyway, the downtown areas that are tourist- friendly and have lots of hotels are as follows:

Beacon Hill/Govt. Center, Back Bay, Financial District, Waterfront. Most of the hotels listed in the ';hotels'; section fall into those categories, and most are walkable to lots of sights, attractions and public transportation.
