Theater Attire

I%26#39;ll be taking my wife to the Colonial Theater in June, but I need some advice on attire. What%26#39;s the norm?

Theater Attire

Others may certainly disagree but I think of the theatre as being a nice excuse to get gussied up. At least smart casual if it%26#39;s a matin茅e, perhaps a step up for an evening performance.

Theater Attire

i agree but you%26#39;ll see all sorts of dress

I agree: not as formal as in NYC but formal, though you do see a range... less formal in daytime-- ';smart casual'; sounds right.

Hi,

I feel it depends on the show you%26#39;re seeing. Don%26#39;t get me wrong, when I take Mrs. H. to the Wang Center I%26#39;m throwing on my best suit. But if I%26#39;m going to see Blue Man Group a suit seems a bit pretentious, does it not? But then again, I live by the sartorial credo: ';it%26#39;s better to be over-dressed than UNDER-dressed. Wear a sport jacket and tie, and if you%26#39;re feeling over-dressed, simply lose the tie.

Agree that attire varies. You%26#39;ll see folks in jeans and others in business suits. I go for the in between! Are you seeing the Light in the Piazza?

Yup, Light in the Piazza. And dinner around the corner at Maggiano%26#39;s. Thanks everyone for your input!
