Hi Folks
I am visiting Cape Cod in July with my husband and two sons aged 16 and 10 years. Any ideas on what we can do during our stay? We are staying in Inn on the Square in Falmouth. We are driving up from Boston and we would really appreciate some good ideas as it is our first time in Cape Cod. ( We are coming all the way from Ireland so we want to make the most of our stay.
Many thanks
Sharon.
Vacation in Falmouth,Cape Cod.Hi Sharon,
Have you had a chance to read through this forum yet?
Okay, well I%26#39;ll be glad to give you a suggested itinerary if you want to visit various areas of the Cape.
Just advise how any days you%26#39;ll be here.
If you don%26#39;t want to tour around then we%26#39;ll get you info on Falmouth and Woods Hole along with Sandwich.
There%26#39;s fun things to do in Hyannis too which I%26#39;ll mention.
Vacation in Falmouth,Cape Cod.First, have you checked the Town of Falmouth web site? http://www.town.falmouth.ma.us/index.php There is a good link there for visitors with a lot of ideas.
Do you ave anything specific in mind? Beaches? Shopping? Museums and history? Hiking or biking? Martha%26#39;s Vineyard a/o Nantucket Island? There%26#39;s lots to do.
Two suggestions that come to mind right off the top- Whale watching see: falmouthchamber.com/travel/…295 for the three closest to Falmouth and also Thursday night at the town Band Shell. Five minutes from Inn on the Square. Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on and your cooler with snacks and drinks for a truly enjoyable evening. (It%26#39;s free, too!)
Hi Sharon-- Check out the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce web site, lots of ideas there. The best beaches in Falmouth for a 16 and 10 year old would be Old Silver Beach in North Falmouth and the Heights beach in Falmouth Heights. The hotel will be able to direct you. The Inn on the Square is within walking distance to ';downtown'; Falmouth, lots of shops and restaurants. The Falmouth Commodores-a summer league college baseball team- plays at Fuller Field- you may be able to catch one
of the games-they are free and really fun to watch. Alot of pro baseball players played in this league in college-great way to expierence America%26#39;s Pastime!!(going to see the Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston is another!!) You can rent bikes across the street form your hotel- there is a beautiful bike path that goes along the ocean to Woods Hole-- more restaurants and shops and a museum featuring the Alvin submarine that was used to discover the wreck of the Titanic. Falmouth has enough to keep people occupied!! And it%26#39;s a great place to call ';home'; as you
explore the rest of the Cape- as well as Martha%26#39;s Vineyard and Nantucket! Don%26#39;t forget to go on a whale watch-amazing!!
Hi
Thanks for all your help. One more question if you had the option to stay in Falmouth or Hyannis, Which area would you stay in?
I am a bit apprehensive about the Inn on the Square after reading some reviews, would Hyannis area be more lively than Falmouth or are they much the same?
We can change areas before we travel, so i would appreciate your opinion on this.
Many thanks
Sharon.
Hyannis is very busy. Much the commercial center of Cape Cod. Lots of stores, restaurants and traffic. Closer to down-Cape (Chatham to Provincetown) by about 45 minutes.
Falmouth has it%26#39;s share of stores, restaurants and traffic, but not near as much as Hyannis. Much quieter and easier to get around. Also closer to Martha%26#39;s Vineyard ferries.
Have you looked at Green Harbor Motel? http://www.gogreenharbor.com/ Someone else on TA was asking about it and I stopped in for a quick look. Nice place! If you%26#39;d like more info about it, let me know.
Harry
Hi Harry
Thanks for the information, I think we will try staying in Hyannis. I will check this hotel out.
Really appreciate your time
Sharon.
