My husband (brand new airline employee) can fly free. We%26#39;ve never been to Boston. Want to go just for a day this Saturday. I%26#39;ve done a little research. Thought we take the blue line from the airport to the aquarium to hook up with the trolley. Then tour the city on the trolley stops , have lunch, etc., and then back to the airport. Is this feasible, flight lands at 10:40 am and return flight leaves at 5:40pm.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks, in advance. Linda
Boston Day TripSure is feasible!! Sounds like a great idea. You need to take the courtesy bus from the terminal marked ';Subway'; that will take you to the Blue Line ';T'; Station. The total time wih the bus and the subway should be less than half an hour.
You can have lunch at Quincy Market, which is across from the Aquarium Subway Station or in the Italian North End.
Have a great time!
Boston Day TripThere%26#39;s a Biotech convention in town this weekend. Not sure how busy it will be in the downtown area. Weather is supposed to be nice however. IMO the time frame you have does not make it worthwhile.
Wow, superbusy day. Another option is to take the water shuttle from the airport. Its kind of like a tour in itself as you get to ride along Boston Harbor. Once you get to the Aquarium area, have lunch at Fanueil Hall. Then hop on a trolley after that. Have a fun day.
Thanks for the info. Any suggestions as to where to eat lunch? Casual and fun. Of course, we want to try the chowder and maybe lobster. Thanks for your help.
It is so written that all visitors must have at least one meal at Legal Seafoods, where they just appen to have chowder and lobster. There%26#39;s one right on Central Wharf, across from the Aquarium, oddly enough.
You might want to try the Union Oyster House for lunch. The food gets mixed reviews, but the restaurant is ';real Boston';.(In my opinion the food is fine, not fancy or gourmet but certainly acceptable.) It claims to be the oldest restaurant in the country and has a very historic feel. (JFK%26#39;s regular both is marked with a plaque.)
You can walk from the Aquarium stop. It is right around the corner from Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market.
