Advice please..Hartford to MV or Nantucket and inter-island

I am planning a 6 day trip..hopefully 3 days for each island..(mid/June)

Traveling from Hartford Ct..

which ferry?

which island first?

3 days enough on each?

We will not bring a car over..

Fastest smoothest ferry? Cost?

Is it reasonable to believe we can see enough without a car?

Thank you in advance

Tom

The inter-island ferry doesn%26#39;t start until June 16. Before that, you%26#39;ll have to return to Hyannis or else fly. I%26#39;m not very familiar with MV. You won%26#39;t need a car on Nantucket, and at close to $400 RT, it would be cheaper to rent one for three days if you did. On Nantucket, everything is in/near town, which you can easily walk. The interior of the island is mainly private homes. You can get to the beaches by shuttle bus or taxi.

If you want to go by water, you can get to MV from Quonset Point, RI or New Bedford, but if you travel on to Nantucket, you may not be able to get directly back without returning to MV. Hyannis has RT ferry service to both islands, so it won%26#39;t matter which one you visit first. Both islands are accessible by air non-stop from several points, including Providence and New Bedford.
