Would love advice. Flying into Boston for two week driving trip - arrive Sat Sep 8 late afternoon, don%26#39;t want to travel too far that day. Suggestion? Early Sunday to Mystic (how far?) and then stay in Newport area (how far?) Sunday and Monday. No accommodation booked as yet. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are booked in Chatham. (Does this timing sound feasible?) Friday morning up to Nashua, NH for 4 nights (maybe 3) to attend the Nascar races (have tickets and hotel booked). Monday we thought we%26#39;d do a bit of the lake area and then head out to the coast on Tuesday morning (or may leave Nashua Monday). Have Tues, Wed, Thurs booked at Rockport and plan to take the train to Boston on one day or drive part way and then train. Any advice for a 1 day tour of Boston - not really into museums - ?? - other than JFK museum. Fri Sept 21 - hotel near airport - suggestions? - we could also do more of Boston Friday afternoon. Any advice, best sights, making the most of our time - best seafood places along the way - most appreciated. Thank you.
Calgarians planning September trip to Boston area
Bosto to Mystic is 2 or 2.5 hours. Boston to Newport is about 1.5 hours and I would think Mystic to newport is about the same. Chatham is about 2 hours from Boston, too.
For Boston you can do the Duck Tour or Trolley Tour and then walk the freedom Trail.
I%26#39;ll let others fill in the rest.
Calgarians planning September trip to Boston areaNice trip. Mystic is cute. Check out the aquarium, seaport and the town. Nice shops and a great ice cream place next to the drawbridge. Google Mystic Connecticut and you will get lots of hits for info. Figure 2.5 hours from Boston and that may be generous. About an 1 to 1.5 hours back to Newport. Nice town be sure to see the Mansions and the tennis hall of fame. Never been to Chatham to stay--want to though. Love the Cape. Rockport is fun. Pretty. Can be very crowded even on early September. Since you have a car explore the area---go to Cranes Beach and the town of Ipswich (famous for their clams) and head ot Glouster (spelling?) to check out the fishing history of the area. All these towns have good websites for tourist info. You can drive into Boston--or take the train. Get the train schedule cus I am sure it will be the commuter line. Have fun. It%26#39;s a great area.
