First trip to the Cape this summer.....

Hello,

I am going to the cape this summer with my boyfriend for a long weekend. We are in our mid to upper 20%26#39;s and we are just looking for a good area to stay. I have been so overwhelmed by all the options and i was wondering if anyone can suggest a good place for us. We want good beaches and good seafood. We will have a car with us.

Hi mlb202,

It is easy to be overwhelmed because each part of the Cape has something to offer and a long weekend is not enough time to see it all. In a nutshell, if you want a fabulous beach experience go to the outer cape where the National Seashore is.....from Eastham to Provincetown. The towns of Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown each have their own feeling with Wellfleet and Truro being the least developed. You will not have any trouble finding beaches, restaurants, plays, shopping, galleries, entertainment, or you can even try the drive-in theater at the Eastham-Wellfleet line.

You can check out the TA reviews for places to stay in those towns but mostly there are small B+Bs and inns, motels on the busy highway, Rt.6 and one Four Points Sheraton in Eastham. We are B+B fans and always stay at Fort Hill in Eastham if they have room. www.forthillbedandbreakfast.com I think they have a 3-night minimum and they are small so it%26#39;s a good idea to try to firm things up soon for a weekend this summer. You can always go to the local Chamber of Commerce sites to look for lodging....most places have decent web sites so you can see what they look like and then you can Google Map them to see exactly where they are. These should get you started. www.easthamchamber.com www.wellfleetchamber.com

good luck!

ok i was thinking of going out to Orleans - how is that?

We have been staying in Orleans every year for more than thirty years. Ideal location for restaurants, beaches, shopping etc. Central starting point for drives to Provincetown, or back down 6A for browsing etc. Short drive to Chatham, one of our favourite towns.

Really, whereever you stay you are only minutes away from beaches of all kinds, places to eat and shop, crowds or solitude. Don%26#39;t worry too much about where to stay, just get out each day and explore, find some favourite places like we have all done and look forward to going back year after year, because if you are like most people who participate on this forum, you will be hooked!!!
