Hello!
My family of 4, myself, husband, 4 yr old son and 11 month old daughter are planning a trip to Boston. We%26#39;ve never been and have not a clue as to where to stay.
We would like to visit the typical tourist areas and have a nice lobster meal on the water. We are planning a long weekend in June.
If anyone could help me pick a nice hotel where we can walk to almost everything I would appreciate it! And if you could offer up some ideas of places to go and things to do that would be fantastic!
Want a nice pool at the hotel or if there is a kid friendly waterpark/spray park that would be great also :)

Hotel for Family of 4, Please Help!!
Hi,
There are two downtown Boston hotels with pools that i can think of off-hand:
The Colonnade Hotel and the Holiday Inn Select-Government Center.
Most of the hotels listed on TA are in the downtown area. The HI-Select is in a wonderful location on the cusp of Beacon Hill and The West End. It%26#39;s also close to the T (our subway). The T by the way, is a nice, efficient, and safe way to navigate the city. For all the public transportation info you need go to mbta.com.
Unfortunately, there are no water parks in the city or greater Boston area.
One warning: there is an enormous eBay convention on the weekend of June 16th, effecting the price and availability of downtown hotels. Hopefully, that%26#39;s not the weekend you had in mind.

I think the Holiday Inn Select as the previous poster suggested might be your best bet. It%26#39;s got a rooftop outdoor pool and they completely renovated this Hotel in the last few years. Kids eat free as you know and the location of this hotel is perfect for getting around Boston. It%26#39;s within walking distance to the Quincy Market as well as the Aquarium. This hotel is right at the foot of Beacon Hill on Cambridge St. (It%26#39;s actually ideal for young families)
The Colonnade Hotel located at 120 Huntington Ave in the Back Bay also has a rooftop pool but it%26#39;s a busier street that it%26#39;s on, if you know what I mean. Here, you%26#39;d have the Copley shops and Newbury St. to be able to walk to though and to conveniently get to from this Hotel, but I think where your kids are so young? You%26#39;d really enjoy the Holiday Inn%26#39;s location, especially where it%26#39;s your first time in Boston.
Another option for you is to stay at a Marriott Hotel outside of Boston for a change of pace? There%26#39;s one located 15 miles from downtown Boston and it%26#39;s easy to get to from Logan if you rented a car. You could head in to Boston one day via MBTA access:
www.mbta.com
Another day you could head up to Lexington or Concord where you could soak up all the history there and then again on another day you could just relax and walk through the Burlington Mall to chill out for the day. This hotel has an indoor and an outdoor pool that looks really neat from what you can see of it online. So that%26#39;s another idea to think about....
One final hotel that has an indoor pool in Boston is the new Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. It%26#39;s located at 425 Summer St. near the Aquarium and the Children%26#39;s Museum. The thing is? It%26#39;s on a busy street and it%26#39;s kind of a pain to walk from this Hotel to the many sites. You%26#39;d have to either cab it or see if there%26#39;s shuttle service available, which I%26#39;m sure there is from what we%26#39;re hearing about it.
I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get all kinds of different suggetions and ideas here, just keep checking back from time to time.
Have fun wherever you end up staying and more importantly, enjoy Boston!
Hello, MomtoBradley!
We are also planning a trip this late June/July, and I have done a lot of reseach. Check out the Hampton inn, Cambridge. It gets great reviews for cleanliness, service, fee parking, 2 miles from Harvard, Science museum, etc. Best of all the T station, across the street (reen Line-Lechmere) will get you anywhere in Boston you want to go. The Hotel rates really beat those in Boston, and it is only a few miles and a few T stops to just about anything.
We booked a 2 day pass on the Beantown Trolly which will pick you up at the Kendall T station on the red line (about a 3 minutes drive) and drops you off at a bunch of Boston Touresty stops. The 2 day pass includes a harbor cruise as well.
Have fun!
Dee
Thank you for your responses. I think we are going to go with the Holiday Inn, plus from what you%26#39;ve told me and then what the reservationist told me, everything has been renovated, so that%26#39;s a big plus!!
Next question... The hotel does not have a hotel shuttle... Do you recommend one? I know we could take the train and then the subway, but with two small children and luggage, I don%26#39;t think so :)
Thanks Again!

Hi,
If you are wondering how to get to the hotel from Logan, a taxi is probably your best option. Unless you have huge amounts of luggage, you should all fit in a taxi. Some of them are actually vans, which you can hail at the terminal.
Make sure you are talking about the Holiday Inn Select-Government Center. That%26#39;s the one folks are assuming. There are other Holiday Inns around the area.
Yes sorry, the Holdiay Inn Select downtown w/ the roof top pool. I actually called Boston City Ride and it%26#39;s only 2 dollars more per person, rather than a taxi and/or shuttle bus at the airport and we got a nice car, help with our luggage and a stop at a store to get milk and juice for the kids to have in the room. So were going to go with them.
Thanks for all of your help! We can%26#39;t wait to tour Boston :)

Just so you%26#39;re aware, there%26#39;s a supermarket around the corner from your hotel. However, it is natural foods, so tends to be pricey.
Thanks! Good to know!
