4th Of July Fireworks

Hello, I am thinking about taking my family to Boston for the July 4th holiday. Is there a nice celabration and fireworks show? I have taken my family to Washington DC the past four years and wanted to try something different. We live about 8 hours away in southern New Jersey. Thanks for any helpful information!! Art

Hi Murphman,

The Boston 4th of July is one of the best in the country. Why else would they televise it nationally? The main attraction is the fireworks of course, and the performance by the Boston Pops on the Hatch Shell along the Charles River. If you plan on getting a spot on the Hatch Shell lawn you%26#39;d better get there early--really early--like a day early. There are other vantage points to watch but there%26#39;s nothing like being on the lawn. visit july4th.org for all the info you%26#39;ll need. have fun.

Healey is right - you%26#39;ll need to get to the Esplanade (the location along the river where everything happens) quite early. A line begins to form at about 6:00 AM. Even though things don%26#39;t happen until nightfall, folks like to get there early for a good spot for both music and fireworks. By the time things get going 50K+ people will be there.

Please read through the website thoroughly. Updated info will be there with respect to what is and is not allowed with you onto the Esplanade. Be prepared for extreme heat or drenching downpours. Both have happened over the years.

Probably best to make the trip up a good day in advance and get yourself settled in. The John Jeffries House is a nice B%26amp;B right near the Esplanade. When everyone is trying to exit after the festivities you%26#39;ll be glad to have something close by.

It%26#39;s a GREAT time!

You will really enjoy the show and you will come back for sure.

The firework display can be viewed from either side of the Charles River from B.U. down to the Museum of Science I have been on the Esplanade near the Hatch and don';t think it%26#39;s worth the all day investment.Get yourself a nice hotel within walking distance and a few hrs. prior to the display fight your way down to the river.

Oh and by the way it is a spectacular show!!

My son and I are going as well and I was looking for any roof top hotel restaurant that might be open for viewing the fireworks. Don%26#39;t feel like spending the whole day waiting.

thanks
