ocean beaches

I will be staying in concord in July and will be using the mbta to get around I would like to visit a ocean beach one day can you tell me of the closest and best possiblities I am also wondering if I should purchase a mbta visitor pass ?

Concord is a bit of a hike from the ocean, but the most promising and closest beaches would probably be Crane%26#39;s Beach in Ipswich and Revere Beach in Revere. My favorite beach, however, would have to be Singing Beach in Manchester-By-The-Sea. It%26#39;s a pleasant and easy half mile walk from the Manchester train stop. I don%26#39;t know much about getting a visitor%26#39;s pass, but I would stop at Singing Beach if you can! Also, there%26#39;s a great little ice cream place on the walk from the train to the beach. It%26#39;s called Captain Dusty%26#39;s.

Manchester by the sea is a good option.

There are beaches in Revere and Winthrop that are easier to reach by T but they%26#39;re kind of gross (in my opinion).

If you get the chance, try to rent a zipcar and go down to the Cape (or at least Duxbury) or go north up to Hampton Beach or Salisbury Beach...

The problem is that Concord is beyond the subway lines and you%26#39;d have to take the Commuter Rail into Boston to get access to the subways and then go from there. It really is easier driving from Concord to the Beaches. You could go to Rockport or Wingaersheek Beach, which are on the North Shore, at least. Rockport is on the Commuter Rail as well, but you%26#39;d have to go through Boston.

Folks - this original post is two years old

too funny.........
