Boston with Kids

We will be in Boston (actually Newton) Memorial Day weekend. Staying at the Marriott. We will have most of Saturday to explore with 6 and 9 YO girls. I would like to take them to Swan Boats, Faneuil Hall and just walking around if the weather is nice. Where do we park and get started? Any other suggestions for the day?

They would love to see the Whales - how long are the Whale Watching Tours? Would that eat up our whole day? Will we see them in May?

Park in the Boston Common Underground Garage. It%26#39;snly $10 on weekends. The Public Garden is just across the street.

There%26#39;s a Visitor%26#39;s Center on the other side of the Common where you can begin a little bit of the Freedom Trail, which is marked with a Red Line.

You can follow that to Fanueil Hall.

The Whale Watches are for half a day. Maybe you would prefer to take the ferry from Long Wharf to the Charlestown Navy Yard instead and get a free tour of Old Ironsides.

Hi,

Don%26#39;t forget about the Boston Children%26#39;s Museum. It%26#39;s located at 300 Congress Street, and it%26#39;s easily accessible via the Red Line subway to South Station. The kids will love it. Go to bostonkids.org.

The Marriott offers a free shuttle to the Riverside Green Line Station where you take the subway into Boston. You could get off at the Arlington Street Station and walk across the street to the Swan Boats. Also on the Green Line is the Science Museum at Science Park Station, Haymarket Station will put you at the Fanuiel Hall Marketplace area and a short walk to the waterfront and the whale watches and aquarium. If you don%26#39;t feel that the subway is for you the previously mentioned Boston Common Garage is a great deal on the weekends.
