In her Cape Cod Explorer book, Kim Grant has mentioned that the water supply on the upper cape is questionable for drinking. This is mentioned in her emergency medical treament sections. She has recommended that only bottled water be consumed in these areas. I would like to get some other opinions. While I enjoy bottled water on occassion, a family of four who drink lots of water everyday could encounter significant expense for an entire week of non-tap and bottled water at restaurants.
What are some other opinions? Thanks
Drinking Water on the Upper CapeAny water that you are served at a restaurant has to be certified as meeting basic water quality guidelines. If the restaurant%26#39;s water supply is questionable they either must close or supply bottled water. You are more likely to run into probems staying at a private home on the upper cape near Otis Air Force Base (Mashpee, Bourne) where the home-owner is responsible for testing the quality of the water. However, there has been so much publicity for so many years about twater on the upper cape that any public supply you find should be fine. If you are still concerned, I would ask the hostess at a restaurant where the water supply is from and what the quality of the water is before sitting down.
