I read the thread on what to do BEFORE a RedSox game. However, I didn%26#39;t get a sense of how much time to figure in. We%26#39;ll be coming from the Omni Parker House and would like to grab dinner in or around Fenway. We%26#39;d also like to get inside the gates early enough to mill around. By the way, our tickets are for Friday night, July 20 against the White Sox.
I read a post in which someone recommended buying peanuts before entering, but I thought Fenway%26#39;s policy was no food or drink except one unopened water. Maybe this was an old post?
Game day timeline
The gates open 90 minutes before game time, or 5:35pm for a 7:05pm game. Figure 45-60 minutes for dinner. If you go in as soon as the gates open, you can usually see the away team taking batting practice on the field.
You can bring in the peanuts from the street vendors on Yawkey Way outside Fenway. It%26#39;s tradition.

The Red Sox policy as listed on their web site still lists only one unopened water as the only allowable item. I can speak from experience that this policy varies with who is working the particular gate and if they are in a good mood. I have been denied bringing peanuts but my wife who is much better looking then me has managed to get the prohited contraband in.
Gates open TWO HOURS prior to game time. Once through the turnstiles you can hang around and get grub at RemDog%26#39;s stand, or any of the other vendors on Yawkey Way. Listen to the music, watch the guy on stilts, get a balloon hat, see if Luis Tiant is around, check who is doing free autographs in the alley, then head in to the park for batting practice. You can stroll in many areas in the park during batting practice, getting close to the dugouts. Then you%26#39;ll be shooed away once it is closer to game time. As for food -- yes you can bring in bottled water as long as it is unopened, and although you are not supposed to bring in food, I have managed to slip in with my cracker jacks. Enjoy!
weeknight games usually start at 7:05pm. if you want to grab dinner before the game and be in the park early to watch batting and fielding practice then you need to leave the Omni by....? I%26#39;m going to say leave the Omni by 3:30. By T, it%26#39;ll take under a half to get there. Spend an hour having dinner near the park, and you%26#39;re good to enter a little after 5pm.
