hotels on Priceline

I%26#39;m planning a family trip to Boston in late July. I keep reading about getting cheap hotels rooms on Priceline. Can someone tell me how this works? Can I cancel the reservation if I change my mind? Can I specify a room - I%26#39;d hate to get stuck with a king bed for 4 people. I want to stay in the most convienent location for sightseeing and eating. Thanks

No you can not cancel the reservation....they only guarantee beds for 2 people....some cities it%26#39;s easier to get 2 double beds at check in, others your stuck with a queen, king or even full size. If you have 4 people you are NOT guaranteed you will get 2 beds....often the saving are so cheap that you can get 2 rooms for the price of one depending on city, time of year, star level etc....go to:

They have ALL the answers to your priceline questions.

Ooops, actually www.biddingfortravel.com is the more comprehensive site....

Priceline is COMPLETELY inflexible. . And no, you can%26#39;t cancel, change your mind or specify a room. If you try to cancel, they%26#39;ll email you from India thanking you for your interest but telling you that there%26#39;s nothing they can do. You%26#39;ve been warned, Etc. etc. Ask me how I know.

It%26#39;s great if you have simple needs (i.e. any kind of room is ok) and have no plans to change your travel. That said, it%26#39;s a great way to get a good price on a room.

The tricky thing is you really don%26#39;t know where you%26#39;ll be staying so you need to be sure any hotel in a given area is okay with you and you also need to be sure you know the area well. The star system protects you in one respect (i.e. if you%26#39;re getting a 5-star hotel, it%26#39;s a 5-star hotel) but some of their districts are pretty big. I like Priceline for NYC. It%26#39;s tricky if you don%26#39;t know the area.

If I remember correctly, in Boston, they have these sprawling areas and then a tiny Waterfront area? The Waterfront is a known entity. As others have pointed out on here, it%26#39;s a little bit out of the way (one stop on the Silver LIne from South Station) but it%26#39;s also not a bad area and the hotels are all nice. I think choosing that is more of a sure thing than picking a sprawling area that has more unknowns. But that%26#39;s me...
