Just a Day Trip

We were not able to get hotel reservation but had planned on seeing the Vineyard on a day trip taking the ferry over in the AM and then renting a scooter to drive around the island and see the various areas.

The night before we will be in Newport seeing the mansions and having dinner and we thought a trip down to Falmouth and the Vineyard would be fun but we are headed to P-Town from there.

If I read correctly, I should skip the Vineyard but what would you put in its place knowing we are headed to P-Town. (i thought maybe Chatam and the National Seashore)

Also, where is it on the seashore that the sand dunes are so high?

Sounds like a very hectic plan. Given that you%26#39;re n Newport and have to drive to the Ferry, then get a round trip, then come back and drive to P-Town, wow. I would go right to P-Town and get settled first. Enjoy P-town then venture out the next day.You DO have reservations there, right??

The dunes are part of the Cape Cod National Seashore and there also are some beautiful vistas around P-town.

I wouldn%26#39;t skip MV altogether. Definitely worth a day-trip if you can work it in.

Newport to Falmouth to MV to Provincetown doesn%26#39;t sound like a very good combination all in one day, though.

If you do get to the island, I%26#39;d recommend the MV public shuttle bus rather than the scooters. It%26#39;ll get you anywhere you want to go much cheaper without risking a bad case of road rash.

Ok, it does sound Hectic. Think we will by pass the vineyard as there just is so much to do on the way to P-Town. I think driving from Newport on down to P-Town is a haul anyway Memorial Day Weekend. Besides we think seeing Wellfleet and Chatham would be very cool also. Martha%26#39;s Vineyard can wait.
