What is the best way to get to the Vineyard from Philadelphia? I don%26#39;t mind a combination flight and drive but I%26#39;m not eager to change planes. Trip will be in the summer.
Philadelphia to Martha's Vineyard
Fly from Philadelphia to Boston, there are tons of flights between the two cities every day. Then take the high-speed ferry from Boston to the Vineyard.
Philadelphia to Martha's Vineyard
Unfortunately, there%26#39;s no ferry from Boston to Martha%26#39;s Vineyard.
Hi
I believe there are plenty of flights from Philly direct to the Vinyard in the summer. See U.S. Airlines
Looks like there is a ferry from Philadelphia: http://www.catch-a-train.com/page12.html
Looks like there will be a stopover (not sure about change of planes) on U.S. Air flights.
My bad. Does the ferry only go to P%26#39;town?
Diva21,
Yes, the ferry from Boston only goes to Provincetown.

cvwgi,
There are a few different ways to get to the island of Martha%26#39;s Vineyard. I%26#39;ll give my opinion on the easiest; USAir flies direct from PHL to PVD, Providence, Rhode Island%26#39;s TF Green airport (much smaller and less hectic than Boston=better travel day). From there, take a car service www.towncartravel.com. to the New England Fast Ferry http://www.nefastferry.com/ . Phone Town Car Travel to set up your scheduled pick up at the airport. The NE Fast Ferry will take you directly to the island. Plane, car, boat, on-island!
Fly into Boston (or take a traini nto South Station.)
From Logan Airport, take the ';T'; to South Station. Right next to South Station is the bus terminal with buses that will take you directly to Woods Hole wher you can catch the ferry. It%26#39;s a nice bus ride on a clean modern bus with no hassle. You can even buy your ferry ticket at the bus station.
There is (at least summer) USAirways service right onto the Vineyard (MVY). Departing from PHL, you connect at LaGuardia (LGA) in New York City. There%26#39;s also service to Hyannis Barnstable (HYA) on the Cape, and then the REALLY small commercial flight over to the island. But all PHL-MVA USAir itineraries go through LGA, they%26#39;re pretty expensive by most lights, and the total duration is about three hours, mainly because of the connection layovers.
Speaking of really small commercial flights, it%26#39;s Cape Air that flies non-stop (!) from Hyannis or Boston or Providence (PVD) to the Vineyard.
