First time in this area!
Was wondering where the ferries are located that allow you to take a vehicle.
We will be coming from Provincetown and then heading over to Martha%26#39;s Vineyard. We would like to stay there one night and then since we are going on to Rhode Island see if there is a ferry (vehicles) that would take us in that direction instead of having to drive the Cape area.
THANKS!
Vehicle Ferry
First of all, you would need reservations, which are very difficult to obtain. Secondly, it is very expensive to bring a car - not even close to being worth it for a night. Rhode Island is very close to Cape Cod and it%26#39;s a very short drive. Plan on taking the passenger ferry and leaving your car on the Cape. When you return, you drive on to RI.

Vehicle Ferry
As Alan said, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR for one night on MV. Your ferry options are Woods Hole, New Bedford (Off Cape on way to RI), or North Kingstown, RI. (There is also a ferry from Hyannis, but not very convenient)
Thanks for the information on that... more questions if you don%26#39;t mind :)
*How long would you say the drive is from Woods Hole, MA to Newport, RI on a Saturday morning?
*How about availability for a ferry ride early in the morning?
*Would I need to purchase tickets in advance for passenger ferry?
*Off the subject of ferries... how about inexpensive accomodations for Martha%26#39;s Vineyard. It is just for one night and I have a feeling we will be doing so much touring that I hate to spend a lot of money for a bed and shower then leave....
THANKS AGAIN!
It takes about 1:45 to get from Woods Hole to Newport, but on a Saturday you%26#39;ll hit traffic getting OFF the Cape because of the weekly rental changeovers....(most rentals go Saturday to Saturday)

for Ferry information, you don%26#39;t need reservations.
Can%26#39;t help with accomodation suggestions, but do a search here, I%26#39;m sure they%26#39;re out there....although in the Summer, especially on weekends, there might be a minimum....
