Good Driving Map

I would like to find a good map for driving around New England. I would also need a map for Boston and New York City.

If you%26#39;re a member of AAA, you can get all these maps for free.

The regular Rand McNally maps should be fine. Boston has changed a lot recently so I%26#39;d advise you to get the most recent map you can find as many of the roads have changed (thanks to the Big Dig). I recently visited NYC and found the Michelin Green Guide to NYC to be extremely helpful. It provides great neighborhood-by-neighborhood breakdowns of what%26#39;s where.

Of course you know that NYC and Boston are both cities that it%26#39;s better NOT to have a car in. Noplace to park. Parking expensive. Traffic, ample public transport, etc.

I just discovered that AAA made their TripTiks available online to the public (they used to be a members%26#39; only service). They%26#39;re great if you need to map a direct route. It tells you where to find the locations of and basic information about accommodations, attractions, and gas stations -- AND it%26#39;s possible to check gas prices at some locations as well!
