Since we must be at the peir by 8:30am I thought we%26#39;d stay in Boston Friday night I need advice on a hotel close to the Constitition. I think we%26#39;ll go to a B%26amp;B on Cape Ann for the rest of our stay. HELP I need to book soon

Hotel near USS Constitution
Good morning VickyBee,
WOW cool, that%26#39;s going to be SO AWESOME for you guys! The absolute closest B%26amp;B to the USS Constitution is one that you should try to get reservations for as soon as you can. Call 617 241-8400. It%26#39;s right on a B%26amp;B boat, it would be ONE remembered get away, that%26#39;s for sure! Go to this site to read all about it, I think you%26#39;re going to really like this B%26amp;B when you see it:
www.bedandbreakfastafloat.com
Also if that doesn%26#39;t appeal to you, there%26#39;s a couple of Hotels right at the Marina. One of them is the Marriott Residence Inn Boston Harbor on Tudor Wharf located at 34-44 Charles River Avenue within walking distance to the frigate. Another good one within a few yards actually is the Constitution Inn located at 150 2nd Ave.
It also depends on what your budget is. Either one of these hotels would be ideal for you for your 8:30 AM appointment, as well as the B%26amp;B afloat, now that one would definitely appeal to me for sure! You%26#39;re going to have to take pictures on the turn around cruise! It%26#39;ll be one excursion on Boston Harbor that you%26#39;ll probably never forget I bet!
Have a wonderful time!

NoMo01%26#39;s suggestion sounds great, but if that doesn%26#39;t work, you can probably ';hoof it'; from the hotel you%26#39;re staying at the previous night. From the Downtown Waterfront, it%26#39;s about a half hour walk to the Constitution. Hotels there include The Marriott Long Wharf, Marriott Custom House, and Millenium Bostonian. There%26#39;s also a ferry from Long Wharf to the Navy Yard, and I%26#39;m pretty sure there%26#39;s several early ferries.
Also, try the ';Constitution Inn';
150 Second Avenue, Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston, MA 02129
It is near the U. S..S Constitution and has very reasonable rates. I believe that it also has parking on site. Also, you can easily walk to the North End for great Italian cuisine.
You can find the hotel and some reviews at the ';hotels'; tab or by using the search box on this site.
Congratulations on being chosen for the turn-around tour. It is a rare privilege.
I booked the Residence. But we%26#39;re actually flying in on Thursday June 7th. So we%26#39;ll have all Friday to tour Boston, do our sail on the Constitution on Saturday morning. I booked a hotel in Peabody for 4 more nights so we can tour Cape Ann. I appreciate all of your enthusiasm for this. I can%26#39;t believe our name was actually drawn. I hear there are 10,000 people that put in for it.
Can any of you experts help me an intinerary for Thurs evening, Friday and Saturday afternoon, before we head out of town to Cape Ann
Much appreciation
Victoria
I%26#39;ll leave the itinerary suggestions for others to reply.
For lodging in the Cape Ann area try:
Best Western Bass Rocks Ocean Inn
107 Atlantic Road
Gloucester, MA 01930 US
The views are spectacular.
I believe that they serve only breakfast, but there are many restaurants in the vicinity.
If you are traveling from Utah, why not be on the ocean rather than Woburn or Peabody which are inland??
More thoughts on my itinerary. Our plane gets in about 4pm. Once we get to our hotel, I thought we may have time that evening to walk over to the North End and do some exploring and get dinner. What do you experts think? Then, on Friday we%26#39;d do the Freedom Trail, backwards, since we%26#39;re already at Charlestown. If we have enough energy we%26#39;ll explore Newbury St have dinner and take the ';T'; back to North Station. Or is that too much for one day. I%26#39;d like to take in Beacon Hill too. Maybe on Saturday afternoon/evening before be leave for Cape Ann.
Another question on car. I know, I know don%26#39;t drive. I hate to rent a care for 2 days and pay to park it, but I don%26#39;t know of any other to get out of Boston and to Peabody and back to the airport. Any advice would be apreciated.
VickyBee,
If your plane gets in around 4PM, you%26#39;ll be at this Hotel fairly quick. So you%26#39;re renting a car at the airport are you? If that%26#39;s the case, drive it right to this Marriott and leave it there. From what I understand there%26#39;s a good 20 to 30 free parking spots between the Hotel and the Bridge that you can%26#39;t miss. Just don%26#39;t park in front of their dorrs which say don%26#39;t park there and also don%26#39;t park on the crossed strips which says parking prohibited or else a yellow warning tag will appear on your windshield.
You can walk right over the Charlestown Bridge to the North End, it%26#39;s a beautiful time of year to be there. Massimino%26#39;s is right on Endicott St. as you get over the bridge. It%26#39;s just to the left of No. Washington St. OR you can walk further in to the North End for North Square and head to Mamma Maria%26#39;s or Limoncello%26#39;s. Hanover St. has many choices and all so wonderful. Don%26#39;t forget to stop at either the Caffe Graffiti located at 307 Hanover Street or the Cafe Vittoria located at 296 Hanover St. after dinner for a cannoli and Italian caffe, it%26#39;s a nice tradition, of course Mike%26#39;s Pastry Shop is always quite good too, you%26#39;ll notice the long line out front every single night of the week.
In Charlestown, the Warren Tavern is wonderful. See if you can squeeze some time in to go there! It%26#39;s located at 2 Pleasant St. along Warren St. in the town. The Navy Yard Bistro is quite good too, you%26#39;ll be right near it from this hotel, it%26#39;s truly a gem there too:
www.navyyardbistro.com
www.warrentavern.com
Look for the Tavern On The Water in the Navy Yard too! It%26#39;s a fun place to go to, IF you can get near it, the weather is starting to be gorgeous in New England these days :
www.tavernonthewater.com
You%26#39;re going to be busy! You need to be outdoors, so for an itiniary what about heading to any one of these places? Get up to see the Bunker Hill Monument while you%26#39;re at it, then walk down Winthrop St. or Monument Avenue or even Pleasant St. from the Monument to head to the Warren Tavern, as it%26#39;s right at the foot of this last street I mentioned.
Take the Duck Tour if you get the chance! That would be neat to do:
www.bostonducktour.com
Head over to see the Charles River, they have cruises that you can take from the Cambridgeside Galleria. If you%26#39;re in the mood for a lot of walking? Check out the Quincy Market and head over to Christopher Columbus Park! Do the Freedom Trail, since you%26#39;re going to be ON it any way where your hotel is! Head up to Beacon Hill from your Hotel and look for the many famous residence homes, then walk right down to Charles Street to browse the many many shops along that unique street. You could also walk from there right over to the Public Gardens to Newbury St., it would be endless and end this particular ';little walk'; at Copley Place. You could take the ';T'; back to Charlestown, either North Station and walk over the bridge or you could get off at Community College and walk from there to Main St. %26amp; Warren St. back to your hotel.
I think you%26#39;re going to be very busy! Can you tell?
I didn%26#39;t realize so many people put in for the turn around ride on Boston Harbor! I can%26#39;t believe that! It%26#39;s incredible to me because I grew up right near the ';Training Field'; and from my bedroom window I used to look out over at the USS Constitution, I could see it lit up at Christmas time all the time! Now thousands of people are on their list to get on it! It totally amazes me to no end!
Have a wonderful time, keep us posted, let us know how it was!

Thanks for all the info. Especially everything about the North End. We%26#39;re walkers so we were planning on doing alot of it and pacing ourselves. We%26#39;ll slow down a bit once we settle in at our hotel up on Cape Ann. While studying the map of Boston proper, I forget how close everything is. Being from the West, Charlestown to the Back Bay would be 15 miles on one of our maps!
About the turn-around cruise, I was layed up with surgery last winter and watched a lot of the History channel. One moring there was a show on the Constituion so I got on line to learn more. ussconstitution.navy.mil. There a link called ';Lotteries'; That%26#39;s where you go to enter the drawing.
So that%26#39;s how it%26#39;s done with the turn around cruise! I was wondering about that, it%26#39;ll be SO neat, you%26#39;re definitely going to really enjoy it that day, hopefully you have a nice sunny day for it.
There%26#39;s SO many different things that you can do during your visit. Definitely pace it and you%26#39;ll probably end up seeing quite a bit of it any way from where you%26#39;re staying. You can always take one of the walking tours through the North End for example, check out the Boston North End site, it%26#39;s just wonderful where it has SO many different, unique tips. You could check out one of the 4 different walking tours on this site alone that they have or head out on your own instead, whatever suits your fancy:
www.northendboston.com
Click on Guide to Visiting...then Walking tours...and you%26#39;ll see them, I really like the sounds of that ';Secret Tour'; it%26#39;s one that my friends and I should probably take some day to see what they tell you guys!
Another tour that so many many people really enjoy is the Movie Tour!
www.bostonmovietours.net
Back Bay to the neighborhood of Charlestown doesn%26#39;t seem like it%26#39;s 15 miles away?? May be it is, I%26#39;m surprised about that one! It doesn%26#39;t seem that far when you%26#39;re actually in Boston proper. When we were in high school (way back when, NEVER mind!) we%26#39;d walk from Central Square in Cambridge down Mass Ave. by MIT and then all along the banks of the Charles River right in to North Station via cutting over by the Museum of Science and we%26#39;d run across Storrow Drive%26#39;s overpass and be in downtown Boston in no time from there. We were crazy kids though! It was during the nice weather after school, and we thought nothing of it!
Getting from where MIT is in Cambridge to the Back Bay over by the Prudential Ctr. would be even easier from the banks of the Charles River; by walking from MIT side of the River right over the BU bridge to get to the Back Bay end of Boston.
There%26#39;s certainly all kinds of possibilities from Charlestown%26#39;s Marriott Residence Inn Hotel complex, as you are finding out. You%26#39;re going to have to let us know with a follow up report on how you worked it all out!
Have a great time exploring Boston AND Cape Ann!
I didn%26#39;t mean it was 15 miles, just looks like 15miles on a map! I think we%26#39;ll take the subway from north station to the prudential station. Do the Duck Tour. It comes back to Prudential so we%26#39;ll work out way back to Charlestown.
I%26#39;ll be sure to post a trip report on this one. Maybe even pictures too.
