Duck Tour

Is the Duck Tour worth doing? Sounds very touristy.

Duck Tour

Always gets good reviews. Nice way to get introduced to the city in a cursory, fun way that loops around the downtown area and then splashes in to the Charles River. Yes worth doing.

Duck Tour

Hi,

I%26#39;m with Mahj. Worth every nickel. It is touristy, but hey, you%26#39;ll be a tourist right? Sure, the ';quacks'; are a little corny, but have fun with it. I mentioned in an earlier post how I took a Duck Tour in San Francisco, and how it was an unbelievably disappointing experience compared to Boston%26#39;s Duck Tour. Give it a shot.

I%26#39;ll add to that...yes, highly recommended!

When people come to town to visit me, it%26#39;s generally on the list of things to do. It%26#39;s a great way to see the city and the Charles...I%26#39;m always surprised what I learn. It%26#39;s fun AND interesting.

I do suggest getting tickets in advance if you can. I walk by the Ducks every day and they are always crowded.

we did a duck tour 3 wks ago when we were in San Francisco and it was really good fun plus it was informative and a bit different from the usual sight seeing tours you can book to go on - definitely worth doing - have fun

It is definitely worth doing we went in October and enjoyed it so much that we are going again when we are back in Boston next week.

I know what you mean about the risk of it being too touristy but it is well done and not served with too much cheeezz.

I could be considered to be a cynical brit however I was like a 39 year old kid on the duck tour, and was just gutted that I was too big to be allowed to steer the boat like the real kids!

Touristy? Sure. But that%26#39;s what these tours are made for. The Ducks are a heck of a lot of fun and one of the most popular tours in the city.

If you are looking for more offbeaten things to do, try Photowalks if you like photography, Art Tours if you like art or Boston Movie Tours if you are into movies/tv shows.

Can you get off and on at the various stops along the duck tour like you can the trolley tour?

No. It%26#39;s a single loop with no enit/reentry.

It%26#39;s EXTREMELY touristy. The drivers encourage people to ';quack'; at passers-by. They let my 8-year-old neice ';drive'; the boat in the Charles. Kids LOVE it.

More serious people might want the more sedate yet equally touristy Trolley Tours.

All I have to say is: If you ever get to Washington DC, SKIP the Duck Tour. Ours was the most boring, uninformative tour I have ever been on. After cursory views of important sites and way too much time spent on CNN news building, you get to float in the Potomac VERY SLOWLY and return the way you came. I%26#39;d suggest a bus tour, if you really want information. Ducks may be fun if you%26#39;ve never been in one or for kids.
