I see there are several tours that I can take during my 2.5 days in Boston. What one would everyone reccommend? Also how busy are the Fenway Park tours? Is there a better time to go than another? Thanks for all of your help
Tour of BostonYou can do the Trolley Tour and also the Duck Tour which is very popular,the Freedom Trail is a walking tour but its very interesting you would love that also.Fenway Park tour is enjoyable.
Tour of BostonThe duck tour is great, especially if there are kids in your group. The trollies are good too.
There are so many great ways to see the city and all depends on you.
I recommend doing some type of vehicle tour 1st to get your bearings and then walking around the areas that interest you most. Some suggestions.....
VEHICLE
=====================
* If with young kids, do a Duck tour which is is really fun. Kids can drive it once on water.
* If a movie/TV fan or want a fun/different way to see the city, take a Boston Movie Tour. Also a great city tour as takes you all over Boston.
* If a historical buff, take a trolley tour that give you on/off boarding at various historical locations.
WALKING
=======================
* No doubt, jump on the Freedom Trail which will give you a great historical perspective. There is overlap with the Trolley.
* No tours but roaming around the North End or Beacon Hill gives you a great cultural aspect.
OTHER
================
* If a sports fan, don%26#39;t miss a Fenway Tour. They run pretty frequently and are pretty crowded.
If you take the Fenway Park tour, go on a non-game day. The tour will be longer and you should be able to get onto the field which is not done on game days.
matang,
For a walking tour of Boston, try Boston By Foot. They have tours designated to specific neighborhoods of the city. Check them out at
bostonbyfoot.com.
In addition to what edgers said regarding Fenway Tours, please note that the tours are timed tours and do sell out particularly in the summer. So plan ahead.
So what happens on the Fenway tour?
By the sound of it, they have a diffrent type of tour on game days?
If that is true, then we will get the dumbed down version since we will be in Boston during a 11 game home stand in July.
On a side note, if you go to Fenway wearing the opposing colors how rough is it?
Matang - during an 11 game homestand, there should be at least one or two off days. If they coincide with your days in Boston, then those are the days to book the tour. The tour is worth it regardless of which day that you take the tour unless you feel that you will be returning to Boston within a year or so and have more time to take it on an off day. Book the tour A.S.A.P. WIth regard to wearing opposition colors, the only person who might receive a few jibes, (and NOT atagonistically so), are the blue and white of the Yankees.
no days off
They play 11 of 18 at home
July 12 - 29
You can book Fenway tours in Advance? Where do I find out how to do that?
I will be wearing the Black and White of the White Sox
Matang - I meant that you should book as early as possible on the day that you want to tour.
