Narrowing my hotel choices Help!!!

I%26#39;m traveling with my wife and another couple from11/30 to 12/3 to Boston for a weekend get away.We plan on exploring,eating well,drinking at some local pubs and just having fun.

I have done some research and have narrowed my hotel choices to two,Residence Inn Boston Harbor Tudor Wharf or Omni Parker House.The Residence is $100.00 cheaper,free breakfast and cheaper parking.The Omni is also starting hotel renovation in December.This sounds like a no brainer to me by choosing the Residence but it seems to me that more people recommend the Omni.

Once in town we will walk,cab or ride the T if that helps anybody with advising me.Thanks in advance!!!

The dilemma is that the Omni Parker House is right downtown, with the Freedom Trail going by the front door and the Boston Common and Government Center but a block away. The Tudor Wharf is in Charlestown, an okay area, but a 15 or 20 minute walk or so before you reach the edge of the downtown area. So only you can decide if that%26#39;s a no-brainer or not! However, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll enjoy your stay Boston at whatever location you choose.

Were you planning on seeing anything outside of Boston during the weekend you%26#39;re here? If not, ditch the car and stay at the Omni.

Even with the potential of renovation it would be easier. A car in Boston is a liability. Save yourself the rental fees and the parking costs.

If you wanted to do a daytrip out of town to say, Salem, you can use public transportation to get there. The Omni puts you right in the middle of things, so you can walk to Quincy Market and get breakfast there, or wander over to Beacon Hill to the Paramount Deli. There are a couple of places for breakfast in the North End, too.

The reasons for recommending the Omni are it%26#39;s location right in the center of downtown, blocks from most of the heavily-travelled tourist sites.

The Residence Inn is a good 15 minute walk from the North End, and 20 minutes or more from most of the other tourist areas.

You will need to make up your own mind whether you want to trade convenience for savings. Either way, I%26#39;m sure you will enjoy your stay.

I would lean towards the Tudor Wharf location and use the money I saved for all the eating well and drinking at the local pubs. The North End of Boston which is famous for its Italian food is about the same distance walking from Tudor Wharf as it is from The Omni Parker House. The North Station area has several pubs and bars which are all easily reached by walking. The one thing that might make me pause would be the possiblity of cold, raw weather and the Parker House is closer to the subway.

Just wanted to point out tha the walk from the Residence Inn is over a bridge ... lovely on a nice day, but in Nov/Dec if we get a cold snap, the wind whipping across that bridge can be brutal.

I would broaden my hotel search. There are many great hotels in the area and those two would not be near the top of my list

I think I would stay at the Residence Inn Boston Harbor Tudor Wharf in the warmer months of the year. It%26#39;s a beautiful hotel located right on the Freedom Trail near the USS Constitution, but in the nice weather you can walk over the bridge to the North End in no time. There are many choices right near this hotel for dinner as well, such as Todd English%26#39;s Olives, the Navy Yard Bistro, the Warren Tavern on Pleasant St.. You can even park for free here if you luck out to get one of the 20 to 30 parking spots they have near the bridge and hotel for their guests, which would be even cheaper than their parking fee if you were there! So remember that for when you stay there in the future!

I think when you%26#39;re going to be in Boston on those particular dates you have lined up? It%26#39;s probably a good idea to stay at the Omni Parker House. It%26#39;s a beautiful time of year when the Holiday season begins everywhere. Right after Thanksgiving and just before Christmas to stay there is ideal. The hotel will be decorated for the holidays and you can walk right out the door to the many restaurant choices, for instance, #9 Park is around the corner and so isn%26#39;t Ruth Chris%26#39; Steakhouse which is on School St. just a few yards from the hotel. You%26#39;ll be at the foot of Beacon Hill here, the theater district and the Boston Common and Charles St. are a stones throw away. The MBTA (the ';T';) is around the corner for the cold weather, which you%26#39;re going to really feel during the time you%26#39;re here.

I think this is probably the main reason to choose the Omni. ';Tis the season!';
