Outermost, Beach Plum, or Menemsha Inn

I have until this afternoon to decide on one of the three. We are already reserved to bring our car over to the island. We are staying 4 nights, and the occasion is our 1st anniversary. Please help with our decison. We have never been on the outer islands. Our first and only visit to MV, we stayed in Oaks Bluffs. This time we would like to experience the beauty, sunsets, and privacy of the outer islands, with the option of driving down to Edgartown and Oak Bluffs, since we%26#39;ll have our car. If anyone could advice on the best of the three, we would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Outermost, Beach Plum, or Menemsha Inn

I absolutely love the atmosphere and beauty of tiny Menemsha harbor. I%26#39;ve only found its like at Peggy%26#39;s Cove in Nova Scotia and Hout%26#39;s Bay, near Cape Town. You can stay at many beautiful and unique waterfront places, but this is very special. And beaches are just minutes away. But I cannot comment on the quality of the places you list.

Outermost, Beach Plum, or Menemsha Inn

Just noticed this, a day late, and am wondering what you decided to do. We%26#39;re partial to Menemsha too....

I was able to get an extension until Tuesday to book the reservation. I understand that there is no air conditioning at Menemsha Inn, and although i%26#39;m told that it probably won%26#39;t be needed, it%26#39;s something to think about. We have tentative reservations at Menemsha%26#39;s Carriage House, and The Beach Plum%26#39;s Hosta Suite. The prices are about the same. The Outermost Inn looks lovely too.

We have decided to stay in Oak Bluffs for the first two nights, and visit Edgartown and perhaps Oak Bluffs downtown area. On the 3rd day we%26#39;ll head toward the outer island, stopping on the way in Vineyard Haven (have to visit Black Dog this time). With that out of the way, we can relax and go to the beautiful beaches in the outer islands for the remaining three days. I just wish I had a little more to go on before making a final decison on which inn.

I am leaning towards The Menemsha Inn.

Forgot to mention, we have dinner reservations at the Beach Plum for our anniversary night, which will be the same day that we arrive after staying in Oak Bluffs. Has anyone actually stayed at either inn, and if so, which room/suite, and what was your experience?

Thanks,

Sharon

2ndtime, you won%26#39;t be disappointed with your dinner at Beach Plum - it is wonderful. Though I haven%26#39;t stayed at either (have family who live on the Vineyard, so don%26#39;t stay at inns or hotels) our feeling is that the Beach Plum Inn is nicer than the Menemsha Inn, a little more upscale.

Thanks ';Magic';, that%26#39;s what I need to hear. It%26#39;s a little confusing because Menemsha seems to get better reviews, and according to someone at The Beach Plum Inn, the rooms at Menemsha are newer. Yet,... I read that the Beach Plum was renovated, since the new management took over........

We still have until tomorrow to decide, so I%26#39;m hoping to get a little more information by then.

Your previous suggestion to experience the Menemsha sunset while having dinner at Beach Plum was great.

If you get any more info let me know.......

Thanks again,

Sharon

2nd time, I sent you a PM

2nd time, just noticed you will have your car - I can make several recommendations. Also, FYI Menemsha is a dry town (only towns serving alcohol on MV are Oak Bluffs and Edgartown), so if you like wine or champagne with that Beach Plum dinner, you need to bring it yourself.

Yes indeed. Since we%26#39;ll have our car, our wine will be in tow. Thanks for the heads up. I didn%26#39;t get your pm yet. I%26#39;ll check again.

Thanks,

Sharon

2d time, PM should be there - up in right hand corner in green bar. Let me know if you don%26#39;t get it and I%26#39;ll try again.
