Staying in or around Boston or Cambridge

Will be going to Boston for three day in the middle of May .

Need help with places to stay for a family of four in the $110-!25+-range?

What attractions to see and places to eat?

Does if matter if you stay ouside Boston and take the T to the attractions or rent a car?

thanks

Having a car in Boston is a liability for a number of reasons.

The streets are hard to figure out, even for us locals sometimes. The traffic can be horrific and parking is expensive and hard to come by. You could end up spending most of your vacation in traffic and/or looking for parking. The T is quick, safe, cheap...

Here%26#39;s an example: if you want to visit the Aquarium and Faneuil Hall, that%26#39;s one parking spot. To get to the Science Museum by car, you have to take it out of one garage and drive a few miles and put it in another garage (or end up taking the T from Gov%26#39;t Ctr to Science Park). Then if you want to go to the Common, that%26#39;s another garage. Plus driving in the city isn%26#39;t easy. It%26#39;s not a grid with 1-2-3 streets like NYC or DC. It%26#39;s very easy to figure it out walking but driving is harder. There are lots of one-way streets and Boston isn%26#39;t known for its good signage.

The ony reason to rent a car would be if you wanted to take a day trip somewhere outside the city that%26#39;s not accessible by T or Commuter Rail.

Four in one room is very difficult, particularly Downtown. Even regular rooms will be beyond your budget, never mind a suite. How about Amersuites in Medford, which is just north of Boston?? They offer, obviously, suites, and they provide a shuttle to the ';T'; subway line.

Try the Hampton Inn Cambridge. It%26#39;s just across the river from Boston. We had 2 double beds there and the room was very clean. It%26#39;s just a 3 minute walk to the Lechmere T station which takes you right into the city. We were able to get around to everything we wanted to see via the T. Our rates were close to the range you%26#39;re looking for.

Assuming your 4 includes your 2 kids, ages would be helpful for people to suggest attractions for you.
