car rentals to cruise ships

we are a group of 4 flying to boston. we will rent a car and drive to providence for 3 days and then back to boston for a cruise. anyone know where the best place to rent a car would be so we would have easy access in and out of boston and to the cruise ship. don%26#39;t want a drop off to far away due to taxi fares being high.

any hotels in or around boston? we are staying 3 days after our cruise.

You might want to consider renting from any of the car rental firms right at Logan Airport. The Ted Williams tunnel (I-90)West brings you from the airport where you can connect to (I95) south to Providence. When you return you vehicle at the airport you can take the MBTA Silver Line to the South Boston waterfront to catch your ship.

There are hundreds of hotels, inns and B%26amp;Bs in Boston and Cambridge in all price ranges. What are your enrertainment and dining preferences, ages, are you attracted to history, parks, museums, sports, what are your financial limitations on lodging rates. WIth this information, replies will be forthcoming. You can also peruse the various questions and replies in this forum as many have the same questions or relate their experiences.

From the Black Falcon pier, you can ealiy reach any lodging in the greater Boston area at reaonable rates by taxi so your hotel need not be in near proximity. Rates from the airport to the Black Falcon pier after rental car drop-off are not exorbitant either. Some hotels will have shuttle drop-off and pick-up but you should contact the hotel at which you are lodging before an assumption is made. It is best to utiliae a taxi for your specific needs.

The cruise ships (let%26#39;s assume the one to Bermuda, in particular) are on the docks, so there is no particular car rental drop off nearby. Taxi it - with four people it is not exhorbitant.

I am a fan of the Parker House Hotel which is one the old-guard places. The rooms are not huge - but quaint. Another favorite is in Copley Square - Fairmont is the new name. Ask the rate for an upgrade to the suite that overlooks Trinity CHurch and a small park. Depending on the availability (and especially if you are book two rooms) it is so worth it.
