I know this is a strange question, but I%26#39;m trying to find out what county the Amerisuites hotel, 116 Riverside Ave, Medford is in. They say they are 4 miles from downtown Boston and have a Boston zip code. Two different people have called the hotel and gotten 2 different answers - neither of which were a Boston county. Is Middlesex county a part of Boston? Is this hotel in Suffolk county?
Counties of Boston

That web site gives you the rundown on counties.
Medford isn%26#39;t Boston. It%26#39;s near Boston, but it%26#39;s not Boston. iddlesex County does not include Boston. Boston is in Suffolk County, along with Revere, Chelsea and Winthrop.
Medford has a Medford zip code, not a Boston zip code.
Maybe they%26#39;re trying to tell you they%26#39;re close to Boston? They%26#39;re not in Boston, though.
Counties of Boston
...oops, sorry....Middlesex County...
The county stuff probably mixed up the hotel staff. Counties mostly have to do with court proceedings, jury duty, and voting. They%26#39;re not on everyone%26#39;s license plate. Not every desk clerk is sure what county they%26#39;re in.
What%26#39;s your question, really?
Medford is part of Middlesex County.
Unlike Florida, counties really have no significance in Massachusetts. The cities and towns retain almost all control of government operations.
The Amerisuites Hotel is just of Route 93 just north of the city. (Only about 4 miles or so) Many people choose to stay there as a cheaper option to staying downtown, yet close to public transportation or highway (Route 93) access.
Thanks CoCo and Milemarker. Unfortunately the government per diem rate is based on county if the city (Medford) isn%26#39;t on the ';list';. Someone isn%26#39;t going to get reimbursed fully for their trip to Boston. grrrr
That policy makes absolutely no sense for a city like Boston. Most of the surrounding areas, some of which would be considered ';central core'; in other cities, are not only different cities, but in different counties. This includes Medford (as you now know), Cambridge, Brookline, Newton, etc.
Well, if you are only getting reimbursed for Suffolk County, you can choose Boston, Chelsea or Winthrop.
Stay out of Brookline, because that%26#39;s Norfolk County, and Cambridge, because that%26#39; s Middlesex County too.
What a dumb rule.
WOW...I guess that%26#39;s the Government for you...Chelsea and Winthrop are allowed....Cambridge would be not be....SO MESSED UP!
