Good morning HLBmom,
You were at the Black Rose near Fanueil Hall, it%26#39;s located at 160 State St. actually. Good one! There%26#39;s a really good site to check out www.bostonirishpubs.com and you click on Irish Pubs on the right hand side of page and you wouldn%26#39;t believe all the pubs listed. It%26#39;s amazing to me to see them all now!
I even saw a few that I never knew were in Southie and I lived there for over 15 years, I swear they weren%26#39;t there! There%26#39;s 3 on West Broadway that I never even heard of and one on Dorchester St.. They must be fairly new in the last several years. The only one that I recognize and remember quite well is Molly Darcy%26#39;s Pub %26amp; Restaurant located at 658 E. Broadway in South Boston.
IN any case, take your pick! There%26#39;s so many pubs now it%26#39;s not even funny! We used to go to the Farraghut House at 149 P St. which is actually a restaurant but set up like Cheers! We used to go there to always talk to the bartender on Saturday nights, every one did, he was great! Good food there too if you%26#39;re ever over there. It%26#39;s still a fun place in my book!
Look for Ned Devines Irish Pub in the Quincy Market when you%26#39;re visiting! That%26#39;s a good one! Not too far from the Quincy Market and the Black Rose within a stones throw away is Broad St., look for Tiernan%26#39;s at 99 Broad St., it%26#39;s within walking distance from this whole area around the Market. It%26#39;s another good one we really like alot! They have really good food here too.
You%26#39;ll have a wonderful time, no matter where you are in the City, it%26#39;ll be really fun! Enjoy it!

If you%26#39;re willing to take the train over to Cambridge, The Field is my favorite Irish Pub in the area. It%26#39;s right at the entrance to the Central Square T stop.
