I would like an opinion on what is the best choice for hotel stay if my choices are between the Westin in Southfield,MI and the Courtyard Marriott or the Marriot across the street in Southfield,MI. I Will be staying for one week in June needing accomdations for 10 people (5 rooms). The reviews have me second guessing on what will be a better choice. Some of the people I will be traveling with are very picky people. I would like to make my stay in Detroit a memorable one. Thanks

None of the above would be my answer, but if you have reasons to stay in that area, I would choose Marriott, Courtyard and Westin. . . .in that order. Just be aware that you will be conveniently located near major highways but that this is an area of fairly sterile office buildings and not much else. Sort of like staying at a hotel near O%26#39;Hare, but with cars and traffic instead of airplanes.

Westin in Southfield is awesome
I believe the Marriott properties were renovated in the last few years... my experience with the Westin --attending meetings there - is that it is in need of freshening. That said, I think the resto there is good... if you like Japanese food - Musashi. I guess I%26#39;m not helping much. Neither property is stellar, IMO.
Is there a reason that you need to stay right in that immediate area?
After much research on available hotels with 3 star rating all other choices were not available.
any suggestions with valid information would be helpful.I would like to be as close to downtown Detroit as possible.. The other surrounding areas to have NO AVAILABLE ROOMS AND OUR PRICE RANGE IS LIMITED with trying to secure 5 rooms.
Try calling the hotel directly and see if they will give you an additional discount for a block of rooms.
Hmmm... I wonder what would be going on that would have so many hotel rooms booked up. Can%26#39;t think of anything, unless it%26#39;s close to the fireworks.
Have you also looked in Dearborn?
The Hyatt in Dearborn is very nice, and there is a Ritz as well. And the Mariott Dearborn Inn is very very nice. There really isnt much around the Southfield hotels you mentioned. Just wondering why you picked that area. You might like staying in Livonia.. or Novi better. (great shopping and resturants in those areas) I guess it depends on what your plans are when in the area.
If you don%26#39;t mind me asking, when in June, what price range, and where abouts downtown?
It seems that most hotels downtown are booked the week of June 22. I believe the fireworks are scheduled for June 22, but I don%26#39;t know what else is going on down there then. Dearborn would be about a 15 minute drive without traffic problems, and Livonia would be about 25 minutes without traffic issues. If you do chose Livonia, look at hotels near the 6, 7, %26amp; 8 Mile Rds along I-275.
I would also suggest Livonia. You%26#39;ll have easy access to the expressway and be about 20 minutes from Detroit. There is a Merriott on 6 Mile as well as a ton of other hotels in the area.
